Mary Oemig, cofounder of Boom Learning

Dear learners, educators, publishers, and friends,

It’s coming to the end of 2021, and a lot has happened in the past year:

  • Students are back in school 🙌
  • Students forgot how to do school 👎
  • We have better tools to fight the pandemic 😃
  • The pandemic is fighting back 😬
  • Teachers are exhausted and there are no substitutes 😩
  • Boom Cards are still helping out 🤩

Did you know?—Over 10 million learners have benefited from Boom Cards! Here is a small sample of the stories that kept us inspired this year:

This story reported to us by phone makes us tear up a bit: “An 8-year-old girl with cerebral palsy has very limited use of her hands. She loves her therapy sessions with Boom Cards so much that the center for assistive technology she works with is adapting a computer for her so she can use verbal instructions to play Boom Cards.”

“We have a song we made up and sing once a month when we give out Boom Card awards:  YOU ARE BOOMFANTASTIC, YOU ARE BOOMFANTASTIC. WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!”
—GenEd Teacher

“The simple data collection… is the biggest boon to us from Boom Learning. … After pandemic, more people want to use technology in their rooms and see the benefit of technology in their rooms. Boom Learning has been one of the biggest tools that we use. … I think if I got rid of Boom, that wouldn’t be very nice. They wouldn’t like me very much.”
—Technology Coordinator

“I have noticed a significant difference in how confident my students are since starting to use Boom Cards in my classes. I use them very often—probably every single class whether we’re in person or remote…I stand by using Boom Cards 100% and will continue to use them for as long as I’m in the classroom.”
—ENL Teacher

We are excited that after the frenzy that was 2020, we have been able to return to working on the features that will take Boom Cards to the next level. Our team has grown again to make that possible. Because of our team’s dedication, we can bring you innovations and customer service that you might expect from a much larger company.

We’d like to thank you for being part of our community. Your feedback—positive and constructive—is always welcome. As we continue work on our next generation features, we are also creating new ways to engage with you. Look for an announcement in the spring about advisory board opportunities.
In the meantime, please continue to collaborate with us through our Facebook groups:

We hope this school break brings you much-needed respite and an opportunity to recharge.

On a personal note, I am becoming an emergency substitute in our local school district. I am looking forward to being back in a classroom to give our educators a hand and to support our students.

Happy Break!!!

Be safe and be well,

Mary for The Boom Team

We ❤️ our teachers

P.S. Did you know that we maintain a list of research about using Boom Cards? Just the gift your evidence-minded admin needs for the holidays! ‍📈🎄

P.P.S. If you missed it in our last blog post, we’re offering emergency support for schools facing unexpected closures. Read more about it here
